Red, White & Blue RETURNS!

That's right! We're gearing up to hit the road in 2008 for follow-up and all-new interviews as we roll through this historic election year!

Started after the disastrous (at least in my opinion) 2004 election, in 2008 we're traveling across the country (by "we", I mean me, my wife, our 2 year old daughter and our crew) to find out just what's changed since we started asking people about what this country means to them nearly 4 years ago.

In 2008, we're digging deeper than we did back then, letting no one off with easy answers. The ultimate question is "Why?" Why do people believe as they do? Where do those political beliefs originate? Is any critical thought given to them, or is everyone just shooting from the hip? Is the pro-life platform your number one issue? What’s wrong with y...um, I mean "Why?" Why not war? Why is it okay to kill children in Iraq, but not to terminate a pregnancy? Want to take "In God We Trust" off of currency and prayer out of schools? Where's your perspective...um, I mean "Why?" What makes that your hot button issue? How does the utterance of the word God affect the quality of education? How does someone being offended devalue them as a human being?

Obviously, I'm being provocative for the sake of being provocative, but that's why we're doing the film...to get people to think --- really, truly, and deeply --- about the beliefs they hold dear, their origins, and their importance and validity in the war for the soul of a nation.

The film also features the music of Cowboy Junkies, Ben Folds, Natalie Merchant, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Dar Williams and a number of other well-known and up-and-coming musicians.

We intend to film throughout 2008, all the way through to the January 2009 inauguration. Will we end up with something inspirational or are we making a horror film?

Only time will tell.
